Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- â…” cup peanut butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup milk
Crust
- 1 9-inch graham cracker pie crust or Oreo pie crust
Topping
- 4 ounces Cool Whip (thawed)
- Roasted peanuts (chopped, optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the peanut butter, room temperature cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined. Gradually add the milk and continue mixing until the mixture is creamy and uniform.
- Assemble the pie: Pour the peanut butter filling into the prepared 9-inch graham cracker or Oreo pie crust. Use a spatula to spread and level the filling evenly across the crust.
- Add the topping: Spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly on top of the peanut butter layer with a rubber spatula. If desired, sprinkle chopped roasted peanuts over the top as a garnish for added texture and flavor.
- Freeze to set: Place the assembled pie in the freezer and chill for at least 3 hours to allow the filling to firm up. For easier slicing, remove the pie from the freezer about 10 minutes before serving to soften slightly.
Notes
- You can substitute the graham cracker crust with an Oreo crust for a chocolate twist.
- If you prefer, use natural peanut butter but be sure it is well stirred to combine smoothly.
- For a lighter option, use low-fat cream cheese and reduced-fat Cool Whip.
- Allowing the pie to soften slightly before slicing will help achieve clean cuts.
- Store leftover pie covered in the freezer and consume within 3 days for best flavor and texture.
