Description

Mississippi Sin Dip is a rich and creamy baked dip featuring sour cream, cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and chopped ham, seasoned with hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Served warm in a hollowed-out French bread loaf, it’s perfect for parties and gatherings as a flavorful, indulgent appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 oz Sour cream
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Ham, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Serving

  • 1 loaf French bread (optional, for serving or to hold the dip)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare Bread: Cut a hole out of the top of the French bread loaf and remove the soft inside bread carefully, creating a hollow bowl. Save the removed top for serving.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, chopped ham, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix thoroughly until evenly blended.
  4. Fill Bread: Spoon the cheese and ham mixture into the hollowed-out French bread, filling it completely.
  5. Wrap and Bake: Wrap the stuffed bread loaf in aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the dip is warmed through and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven, unwrap, and serve the dip warm with the saved bread top and additional crackers or bread slices as desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ham with cooked bacon or sausage for a different flavor.
  • Adjust the hot sauce amount based on your heat preference.
  • For a crispier crust, unwrap the foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
  • This dip can be prepared a day ahead and baked just before serving.
