Description

Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Potatoes is a quick and delicious skillet dish that combines tender, seared steak cubes with crispy baby potatoes, all enveloped in a rich garlic butter sauce. Perfect for a comforting weeknight meal, this recipe brings together bold flavors with minimal effort in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin), cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika

Potatoes

  • 1 lb baby potatoes, halved or quartered
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the potatoes: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the halved or quartered baby potatoes with salt, pepper, and paprika. Add them to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are crispy and golden brown on the outside and tender inside, about 12-15 minutes. Once done, remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Sear the steak bites: Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet and increase heat to high. Season the steak cubes with salt and pepper if not already seasoned. Cook the steak bites in batches to avoid overcrowding, searing each side for about 2 to 3 minutes until nicely browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Melt butter and cook garlic: Reduce the heat to medium, add the butter to the skillet, and let it melt. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, taking care not to burn the garlic.
  4. Toss steak and potatoes in garlic butter sauce: Return the cooked steak bites and crispy potatoes back to the skillet. Toss everything together well to coat with the garlic butter sauce. Allow it to heat through for 1-2 minutes so the flavors meld.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley or thyme over the skillet, and serve the steak bites and potatoes hot for a flavorful, satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, add a splash of fresh lemon juice to the garlic butter sauce before tossing the steak and potatoes.
  • You can use any small waxy potatoes if baby potatoes are unavailable.
  • Adjust cooking times based on the preferred doneness of your steak.
  • If you want more spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when cooking garlic.
  • Use fresh herbs for garnish to maximize aroma and presentation.
