Description

These Easy BBQ Meatball Sliders are a perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack, featuring juicy meatballs cooked in tangy BBQ sauce, topped with melted provolone cheese, and served on soft slider buns brushed with buttery sesame seed topping. Ready in just 30 minutes, they are ideal for parties or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 Slider Buns
  • 12 Frozen Meatballs
  • 15 ounces BBQ Sauce
  • 6 slices Provolone Cheese

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders later.
  2. Prepare Buns: Grease a casserole dish lightly and place the bottom halves of the 12 slider buns evenly inside.
  3. Cook Meatballs in BBQ Sauce: In a large pot, combine the frozen meatballs and 15 ounces of BBQ sauce. Cook over medium-high heat for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are fully heated through and coated in sauce.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Place one cooked meatball on each slider bun bottom. Spoon some of the BBQ sauce from the pot over each meatball, then cover each with a layer of provolone cheese slices.
  5. Add Bun Tops and Cover: Place the top halves of the slider buns over the meatballs and cheese. Cover the entire casserole dish with aluminum foil to prepare for baking.
  6. Bake Covered: Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and buns to warm through.
  7. Butter and Add Sesame Seeds: Remove the foil and brush the melted butter evenly over the tops of the slider buns. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the buttery tops for flavor and texture.
  8. Bake Uncovered: Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes to toast the buns and finish melting the cheese perfectly.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve the sliders hot, fresh, and gooey with your favorite sides or dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Use frozen meatballs for convenience and quicker preparation time.
  • Feel free to substitute provolone cheese with mozzarella or cheddar for different flavors.
  • To make spicier sliders, add a dash of hot sauce to the BBQ sauce during cooking.
  • Butter and sesame seeds enhance the bun’s flavor and provide a nice golden crust.
  • These sliders are best served immediately but can be kept warm in the oven on low heat if needed.
