Description
Custard Yogurt Toast is a delightful and easy-to-make breakfast or snack that combines soft bread with a creamy custard made from egg, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup. Baked in an air fryer or oven, it’s topped with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate chips for a deliciously balanced treat.
Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 2-3 slices of soft bread (depending on size and thickness)
Custard Mixture
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
- 2-3 tsp maple syrup or honey
Toppings
- Handful fresh raspberries
- 10g dark chocolate chips
- Optional garnish: drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the Cooking Appliance. Preheat your air fryer or oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure the custard toast cooks evenly and to perfection.
- Prepare the Custard Mixture. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup until the mixture becomes smooth and custard-like in consistency.
- Create an Indentation in the Bread. Using your fingers or the back of a spoon or fork, gently press into the center of each bread slice to form a well or indentation without cutting completely through the bread.
- Fill and Top the Bread. Spoon the prepared custard mixture evenly into the indentations on each slice of bread, then sprinkle the fresh raspberries and dark chocolate chips on top for flavor and texture.
- Cook the Toast. Place the prepared bread slices into the preheated air fryer or oven and cook for approximately 4 minutes until the custard is set and the toast is lightly golden.
- Serve and Garnish. Remove the custard yogurt toasts and optionally drizzle with extra maple syrup before serving for added sweetness.
Notes
- Adjust the quantity of maple syrup or honey to suit your preferred sweetness level.
- Use soft bread to ensure the custard mixture can absorb well and cook evenly.
- If you do not have an air fryer, a conventional oven works equally well for this recipe.
- Feel free to substitute raspberries and chocolate chips for other toppings like blueberries, nuts, or seeds.
