Juicy ground chicken patties are infused with savory teriyaki sauce and crispy panko breadcrumbs, pan-fried to golden perfection, then topped with a fresh, crunchy sesame slaw dressed in toasted sesame oil and rice vinegar. Served on toasted brioche buns with a creamy yum yum sauce, these burgers offer a flavorful and satisfying meal in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Teriyaki Burgers

  • 1 lb. ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil (for frying)
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1/4 cup yum yum sauce (or mayo, sriracha, chili crisp, or preferred sauce)

For the Sesame Slaw

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Sesame Slaw: In a medium bowl, toss together shredded cabbage, toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and chopped green onions if using. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Set aside.
  2. Make the Burgers: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, teriyaki sauce, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly with clean hands until well combined. Form the mixture into 4 evenly sized large patties.
  3. Fry the Burgers: Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken patties and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on one side until they are golden and mostly cooked through. Flip the patties and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until cooked through completely, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and there is no pink inside.
  4. Toast Buns: Remove any burnt bits from the skillet, then place the brioche buns cut side down in the skillet over medium-low heat. Toast briefly until they are lightly browned and warm.
  5. Assemble Burgers: Spread yum yum sauce on the top and bottom buns. Place a cooked chicken teriyaki patty on each bottom bun, then top with a generous amount of sesame slaw. Cover with the top bun, press lightly, slice if desired, and serve immediately. Enjoy your flavorful and juicy burgers!

Notes

  • Make sure to cook chicken patties thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
  • You can substitute the yum yum sauce with any favorite spicy or creamy sauce like sriracha mayo or chili crisp.
  • Feel free to add sliced avocado or pickled vegetables for extra flavor.
  • To keep the slaw crispy, add the dressing just before serving if preparing ahead.
  • Use fresh brioche buns for best texture and taste.
