Ingredients
Scale
Sandwich Ingredients
- 4 slices thick sliced bread (such as Sara Lee® Artesano™ bread)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 ounces brie cheese, sliced
- ½ cup blueberries (or blackberries or strawberries)
- 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Heat a skillet over medium heat to prepare for grilling the sandwiches.
- Butter the bread and add brie: Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Place two slices butter side down on the skillet, then layer the sliced brie cheese on top of the bread.
- Add berries and cheddar: Evenly distribute the blueberries over the brie, then add the optional sliced sharp cheddar on top for extra flavor. Cover with the remaining bread slices, butter side facing out.
- Grill the sandwich: Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted thoroughly. Adjust the heat if necessary to avoid burning.
Notes
- Substitute blueberries with blackberries or strawberries as preferred.
- Use thick sliced bread for a sturdier sandwich that holds the fillings well.
- Adjust cooking time slightly based on your stove and skillet thickness to ensure cheese melts and bread crisps without burning.
- For a dairy-free version, replace cheese with vegan cheese alternatives.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
