Description
Delicious and elegant chocolate covered strawberries served in a convenient cup, perfect for parties or a sweet treat. These strawberries are coated in rich, semi-sweet chocolate that hardens with a beautiful shine thanks to coconut oil, sprinkled with a pinch of sea salt to enhance the flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
Strawberries
- 12 strawberries, washed and dried thoroughly
Chocolate Coating
- 2/3 cup Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet chocolate chips
- 1.5 tbsp Crisco coconut oil
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries: Thoroughly wash and dry 12 strawberries to ensure the chocolate will stick properly. Any moisture on the berries will prevent the chocolate from adhering smoothly.
- Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1.5 tablespoons of coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Dip the strawberries: Holding each strawberry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, coating it evenly. Allow any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- Add sea salt: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate-covered strawberries to enhance flavor and add a subtle contrast.
- Set the strawberries: Place the dipped strawberries upright in a cup or on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Once the chocolate is fully set and shiny, serve the strawberries directly in individual cups for an elegant presentation.
Notes
- Be sure the strawberries are completely dry before dipping to help the chocolate adhere properly.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk or dark chocolate depending on your preference.
- Using coconut oil helps the chocolate set with a beautiful shine and a firm finish.
- Sprinkling sea salt enhances the chocolate flavor and adds complexity.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for best freshness.
