Ingredients
Scale
For the Beef:
- 1 pound of beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (divided)
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Bowl:
- 2 cups of cooked rice or noodles (white rice, brown rice, or egg noodles)
- 1 cup of mixed vegetables (such as bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas)
- 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
- Sesame seeds (optional), for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the base: Cook rice or noodles according to the package instructions, then set aside once done.
- Sauté vegetables: In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the mixed vegetables and sauté for 3-5 minutes until tender but still crisp. Remove vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat butter for beef: Using the same skillet, add the remaining butter and increase heat to medium-high.
- Cook the beef (first side): Add the thinly sliced beef in a single layer, seasoning with salt and pepper. Let cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring to develop a nice brown crust.
- Cook the beef (second side) and add flavors: Flip the beef slices, then add minced garlic, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and garlic is fragrant.
- Combine and heat through: Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the beef. Stir everything together and heat for 1-2 minutes to combine flavors.
- Assemble the bowls: Divide the cooked rice or noodles into serving bowls and top with the beef and vegetable mixture.
- Garnish: Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the bowls if desired.
- Serve: Serve immediately while hot to enjoy the best flavors.
