Buttercream Frosting Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 ounces heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cream Butter and Salt: In a large bowl or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream 1 cup unsalted butter and ½ teaspoon salt on low speed until the mixture becomes pale and creamy, ensuring the butter is fully softened.
- Add Sugar and Cream Slowly: Gradually add 4 cups powdered sugar and 2 ounces heavy cream alternately and a little at a time while mixing continuously on low speed over approximately 3 minutes. Adjust the consistency by adding an extra ½ cup powdered sugar or 1 tablespoon heavy cream at a time as needed.
- Whip with Vanilla: Add 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, then increase the mixer speed to high and whip for 2 to 3 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl every minute to ensure even mixing.
- Use or Store: Use the frosting immediately for decorating your desserts or store it in an airtight container to keep fresh for later use.
